Le Cucumber Sour

The Cucumber Sour

Alexis Taoufiq
A fresh and balanced cocktail that will delight most people both with its taste and its elegance.

This is my girlfriend's favorite cocktail, who originally thought she didn't like gin. The Cucumber Sour is perfect for introducing you to gin!

Note that this cocktail contains egg white, which brings a texture and creaminess to the preparation, like a whipped egg white that you would subtly place on top of the cocktail. This is exactly what happens in your shaker when making it. In fact, by stirring you will whip the egg white and add this creamy texture to the mixture without adding any taste.

Be careful to mention it to your guests to avoid any risk related to allergies. It is possible to remove this ingredient from the recipe.
INGREDIENTS
Prepare in a shaker and serve in a coupette
  • 3 cm cucumber
  • 4 basil leaves
  • 1.5 oz (40 ml) gin
  • 0.75 oz (20ml) lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz (20 ml) simple syrup
  • 1 half egg white
Decoration: cucumber slice

METHOD OF PREPARATION
  • Crush the cucumber pieces in your shaker
  • Add all ingredients
  • Fill your shaker 3/4 full with ice.
  • Stir
  • Strain and serve in a coupette glass using an ice strainer and a pulp strainer.
  • Place a slice of cucumber on the preparation as decoration.

PRO TIP:
The Dry Shake: for certain cocktails with egg, we will make what is called a "Dry shake", it is a shake without ice which will allow the egg white to emulsify before shaking normally with ice filled to 3/4.
